In-Vitro is Latin for “within the glass”, as such this process involves special glass equipment, and essentially the eggs are extracted from the uterus and taken to the lab after which they are introduced to the semen. Many women’s uterus have what doctors call an “inhospitable environment”, which hinders and even stops all sperm from reaching the egg. The controlled environments present in the lab ensures that the insemination of the egg occurs easily. After the Egg has been fertilized it is placed back into the uterus, and the rest of the process of conception is natural.
